BLOGGING IN BED

I'm in bed again. Blogging. Sort of.
Kinda cool, isn't it? Now this blog's really turning out to be a diary of sorts.

Anyway, I had quite an experience today. I basically just embarrassed myself in the mall. And the PAL office, and in the jeeps I rode. See, I dragged myself out of the house in the afternoon, so I could settle my PAL stuff: my student discount card, and the Mabuhay Miles. I rode into the jeepney still wondering how much REALLY REALLY is the fare from the corner to Claveria Street. I almost had myself convinced it was P5.20, when this rather irritable driver charged my fellow passenger P7.50. So that's P6.00 for a student like me. That's what I paid, just the same. A kind and cheerful driver a few days ago only charged me five bucks. Sige lang.

I reached the office, settled my stuff, and rode another jeep to Gaisano Mall. The lady guard, aside from doing the usual "kapkap", also gave me a sudden "kuhit" in the chest. (Haha, now I'm beginning to sound conyo) I half-ignored it, and was walking ahead when she called out, "Baliskad t-shirt nimo" ("Baliktad t-shirt mo").
Flustered, I gave my inside-out blue striped shirt a quick glance, the shirt I'd been wearing in the jeeps and in the PAL office where a rather unfriendly lady attended to me (maybe it was the shirt?!), managed a feeble smile,
said thanks, and walked away from the small crowd of people taking long strides.

A trip to the men's room later, and wearing my shirt the right way this time, I bought a dual-SIM attachment (the old one screwed itself up) at the mall for my 7210, so I could alternately use my M1 and Globe SIMs when I'm in Singapore. So again, here's another reminder to my friends in Pinas: YOU CAN TEXT ME AT MY SAME GLOBE NUMBER EVEN WHEN I'M IN SINGAPURA NA. PISO LANG DIN KASI ROAMING. ;)
Ha. Ang kulit ko talaga. I remember broadcasting that same message last time I left. and the other time too. Hehe.

Nothing interesting much to see at the mall, but perhaps that was only due to a certain foreboding that this wasn't such a nice day to do most anything. I rode another jeep, dropped off at Ponciano Street, and entered this small shopping center that would lead me to the road across, where I intended to have my old 3210 repaired. Gaisano Center was rather cramped, and the paths to which departments were all a mess. I finally saw this open door that revealed a small "EXIT" sign posted on the wall.

Relieved, I entered it, revealing a narrow hallway where the floor and walls were of unpainted cement. Steps led down, and it was rather dim and dingy. My smarter self told me that I'd never seen this passage before and thus should turn back, but my logical self reasoned that EXIT nga raw sabi eh.

A few steps down and a saleslady came into view. Near her, a salesboy was eating what seemed to be a very late lunch in his baunan. It was the employees' quarters of sorts. Not daring to run up the steps immediately when I'd already been seen, I asked her the exit leading to Claveria was, and true enough, it was back up the stairs, where it was more lighted and um, clean. I started up the stairs, and could distinctly hear the salesboy chuckling, the saleslady telling him not to laugh, but was herself stifling a giggle.

I had my 3210 fixed, managed a small act of pretending I didn't have enough cash (which was really SORT OF true.. out of allotted budget), and had my old 3210 repaired and its LCD replaced for 300 bucks, instead of 400, or the later tawad of 350.

What do you know.. the jeep I rode on the way home overheated, and had to pull over TWICE.

And my uncle's computer was so darn slow I couldn't work on some blog stuff pa. Right when it's about to get "published" finally after a long long wait, it manages to disconnect. Great. Oh well.

Buti na lang I'm not the type who goes ballistic over such misfortunes and blunders.
I'm made of tougher, and need i say THICKER, stuff. Hah.
STILL SUMMER

It's half before midnight, and I'm sort of blogging in bed. In Notepad too.
I've just finished washing the dishes, something I don't particularly look forward to, and now I'm just um, making myself sleepy.

About an hour ago a mild yet disturbing headache hit me. Earlier this evening my sister complained of a migraine attack, something not uncharacteristic of her, and I now just hope to God I didn't "inherit" it too from my dad. Sabi ko pa, 'Sa akin na nga ung zits galing kay Dad, wag na sana pati migraine.' Hehe.

There again is that one topic that's been totally "in my face" for the past months and months, they're still there. Hmph.

Anyway, as usual, it's been another overdue blog, and yes yes, u might hush me, but really, so many things have happened since the last entry.

It's still part of the looong summer break for me, and what have happened na ba?

Hmmm..
Yeah, for a while I've been doing some socializing na. Big deal? Hehe. You see, in recent days, I've been home alone, with nobody but 8 dogs for company. and the tv. and the PC. and some random book. and the whole house and yard that always brings out my inner OC. Always something to be done.

So there, for a while some two weeks ago, I met up with my cousins, Alec and Justin, who came to visit my Lola's place. Alec just graduated from AdMU, and he's all psyched up to go to England with a Pinoy friend of his, who seems to have settled quite nicely somewhere in Manchester. Already, his favorite place is France, based on what he hears from people. I can tell he'd be TOTALLY ecstatic once he even steps foot on the England-bound plane. Basta, I promise I'll step foot on European soil someday, and ride those gondolas in Italy, and eat, or dine rather, in a genuine French cafe, and make snow angels in European snow. ;) maybe sometime in the very very distant future.

Justin was his usual laughing self, although I now see him on TV for a second or so. He got a small part in this commercial, see. Anyway, a texter from a so-called Millionnaires Club had informed me through SMS that I won P1.3M and Justin helped clear it all out. I admit, I felt a small flutter of giddy excitement when I woke up one morning to read the message. I didn't call him as instructed though, I just replied with a safe message. Justin, however, upon learning of the text, determinedly called the number. He said he liked talking with those kind of people. Haha. I also like to psychoanalyze people and all, but I didn't think the call was worth it. Hehe. The guy from the Millionaires Club chickened out and refused to take the call. Go Justin.

I had pizza with John and Jacques at Greenwich too. John is Jasper's little bro, and Jacques is my so-called little bro in high school before, both at least a three years younger than me. Quite a coincidence that I met them, since I only intended to have some photos developed. Interesting, John & Jacques & Joseph together. I'm thinking what if Jasper were there din. Um, okay, Michael JOHN too. Hehe. I like J's. Hmm.. I wonder why.

Also, I went to watch a movie with an odd crowd too, some time later. Not some weird crowd, really, but what was supposedly a big "laag" (as they say in Bisaya) or gimik or whatever, turned out to be a rather small company, but it was all good. See, Angeli was leaving for Manila for classes at Ateneo, and so she wanted to have one last Davao outing before that. It was grade school classmate Marc Rivera, highschool fellows Daryl and Angeli, who all came first, and the first thing they asked me when I arrived was, "Ba't ka nag-white?" Turns out Anj and Daryl were wearing white tops, which matched perfectly with my collared white shirt. Buti na lang at nagyellow si Marc.

Unfortunately, Marc had another appointment later, and had to leave us after a short while, and so Anj, Daryl and I went to McDo for snacks while waiting for Brix. And guess what color Brix was wearing? We simply had to laugh it off, as we walked to the cinema. We made sure for a while that we kept some distance among each other while walking lest we be confused for dancers maybe, or that NSTP (or something..tama ba?) or community outreach stuff that AdMu promotes. Funny, really. Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen was um, okay. Although I thought the whole thing could've been on an hour-long sitcom on cable TV.

Anyway, when the people finally had classes, I was basically stuck at home. I did go visit Pisay again though, for their Independence Day program. I thought it was a lively show consisting of dances and all, but it turned out to be a symposium. But mind you, it was a pretty good talk, given by Fr. Albert Alejo, who, incidentally, turns out to be my mom's professor in her graduate studies. Substantial and entertaining talk, I must say, and that tells much, given that those two words don't usually stay in the same sentence.

Got to finally talk to my HS adviser, Sir Angel, about something he mentioned through text while I was in Singapore. He said he wanted to talk to me about something. But no, he couldn't say it through text, dapat daw personal. So there I was, in the flesh, in his cubicle, but this time, he told me to forget about it! Grrr.. Maybe next time na lang, when I was about to leave for S'pore uli. Hmmmm... makes me all the more curious.

I came to Pisay right when some relatives of my 1st year Math teacher, Mr Cheney Tapiz, came over to shoot a video. Mr Tapiz, who had for a couple of years been working as a teacher in the US, was soon to get married, and the relatives came over to get a video of his friends and colleagues as a surprise gift for the upcoming wedding somewhere in Northern Luzon in a few months. Next thing I knew, I was pulled into the Academic Chief's office, where some 15 or so teachers were being shot.

I gave him my best wishes when it was my turn to speak to the videocam, thanking and congratulating him. He had coached me before in several Math contests, see. Excellent teacher, I must say. Well I hope MY own friends and relatives would surprise me too, with something like that. Hahahaha. I mean, being away from home and all, studying so diligently I've been growing zits.. No? Fine. ;)

I got to ride a jeep with a bunch of Third Years, who interestingly are those closest to me (of course aside from my batchmates) when I'm three years older than them. They were freshmen when I was a senior, so go figure that out.

I'd love to go on, but i think this entry's already way too long to be interesting. Hehe. Have to get some sleep too, since I'm going downtown tomorrow to settle some stuff. Good night.

P.S.
12:37 am. Does it really take me more than an HOUR to blog? Sheesh. =P

Tama, I've been making it an aim to practice typing. You know, the kind where one doesn't look at the keys, and uses all ten fingers. I guess that explains, if you haven't yet noticed, my very first blog entry ever ever (that's for emphasis) with proper capitalization. Hah.

BACK AT LAST

guess who's back guess who's back.

according to new and improved blogger, my last post was on may 27. oh i know, i'm becoming a lousier blogger by the day, but that's okay right? right. i knew you guys would forgive me. or at least, my dear bloggie would.

lotsa things have happened, and no, the tone of this one won't be as bitter as the last post's. hehe.

let's see. so i gave my speech (nice daw, but i hope it was inspiring and witty enough for those playful freshmen kiddos), kristia's dinner at jack's ridge with some of her closest friends was lovely, raissa's debut at the apo view hotel was quite a reunion of sorts. and, as thirdie says, that was my "time to shine" daw. ha. ha.

jack's ridge tlga is nice. the view of the city is breathtaking, and it was only then that i realized, free pala ang entrance. quite a lovers' place, really. the sprawling greenery, the viewdecks, the playgrounds, those benches for two, the restaurants and all. you know what i mean. that kind of thing. i thought kristia's dinner was a family thing, with a few guests, but it turns out it was kristia alone, with her bestfriend myka, a good amount of moolah (i presumed), a greedy small bunch of fellow titans (me included.

the dinner was good, and quite heavy too (kristia apparently overestimated, but no one was complaining), and afterwards we just walked around and talked and laughed and took photos and laughed again. went home at past 12.

another reunion was raissa's debut the next day. i showed up surprisingly early, kasi nga raw may last minute dance prac. i never did fully master the steps, pero i think i did good enough and hindi nagkalat. revelation daw according to our high school electronics teacher, sir cromwell. grabe, that guy's one of the greatest dancers i know. even thirdie the total performer looks up to him. anyway, i have this new habit of losing myself in discos (i never did quite do that say, last year?), so it was good fun. never mind if i stuttered during my little 18 treasures' speech. ;)

guess what i gave raissa for a gift. ANOTHER book. all three debuts i attended this summer: all books.

for jenni the cool and funky and stylish and ex-bookworm (i think), i gave dan brown's angels & demons. i wanna read it tlga, but all i could do was sigh as i was wrapping it up.

for clang the LOTR fanatic, i gave her The Lord of the FLIES. haha. you could tell someone was running out of ideas. (trivia: lord of the flies was a sort of inspiration for the survivor series.)

and for raissa, this collection of short stories entitled Catch Me a Firefly. o diba?
it's by a Pinay writer, and, although there were a few grammar glitches in the first few stories, i still hope rai appreciates the book. after all, it's about charming little stories from the point of view of a young woman. set pa in the olden times of sorts.

after i've exhausted all three debuts i get to attend (no info yet about the next ones, and since i'm back in s'pore late july, la na till end of november), and now that my friends are getting back to school na, i'm forced to rethink my summer plans.

so far i've watched lotsa movies na with friends in the span of a month: peter pan, van helsing, troy, shrek 2, day after tomorrow, harry potter 3, and some more pa, since more good flicks are coming. also, i'm still into page 500+ of HP book 5. i read it through the PC, as i'm too poor to buy the book. hehe.

btw, i thought HP3 was very good. i could not believe my ears when some of my moviemates, 3 of them, were one in saying pangit daw. rather dragging daw and boring.
i couldn't say i was impartial anyway, since the 3rd HP book was my favorite of the lot. i watched it again tuloy, alone this time, in an attempt to see it more objectively. i still like it best among the 3 films so far. darker, not too kiddie anymore, better cinematography, and sharper humor. ans shempre the story is better, at elast for me. but then again baka biased lang.

tama, i have a grand total of 8 mutts to attend to. grabe, that terrier bitch gave birth to 7 little pups. ayun, they're 8 na, double the number of members in MY family. ha. it's messy to have all those mutts, i tell you. but it's okay. i think.

hmm.. i'm digressing uli. i'm learning how to drive na pala, although i doubt i'll have a license before i enroll end of july. sige na, it's been way too long na.

i've been working on a new look for the blog. it's still undone, but you see naman the changes, so it's getting somewhere, definitely. hopefully better.

ciao!
